FOI (Freedom of Information)
FOI (Freedom of Information)
In this course attendees will explore basics of the FOI/EIR, who it applies to, what a valid FOI/EIR request is, and what steps the council has to take in response to the request, including time scales, advising and assisting applicants.
It will also look at what information can or cannot be released and will provide delegates with a brief introduction to the FOI/EIR exemptions and how to refuse a request.
It is an ideal introduction to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) for new Councillors and Clerks as well as those requiring a basic knowledge of FOI.
